Pharmaceutics

Overview

Pharmaceutics is the study of the quantitative aspects of drug delivery. It involves the design, development, and evaluation of drugs in combination with an appropriate dosage form. A pharmaceutical scientist: characterizes physical properties of drugs. Pharmaceutics deals with the formulation of a pure drug substance into a dosage form.

Pharmacology

Overview

Pharmacology is the science of medical drugs and medications, including a substance’s origin, composition, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic use, and toxicology. More specifically, it is the study of the interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function.

Pharmacognosy

Overview

Pharmacognosy is the study of crude drugs obtained from medicinal plants, animals, fungi, and other natural sources. The American Society of Pharmacognosy defines pharmacognosy as “the study of the physical, chemical, biochemical, and biological properties of drugs, drug substances, or potential drugs or drug substances of natural origin as well as the search for new drugs from natural sources”

Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Analysis

Overview

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab is meant for testing and identification of impurities; synthesis and purification of chemical compounds; identification of medicinally active compounds; and analysis of biological samples like urine, blood, etc.

Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab is suitable for analysis, quality assessment and quality control studies of drugs on finished products.

Quality assurance is one of the most important aspects of the entire drug manufacturing process. Not only will it help companies protect their reputations, but it will allow them to avoid hefty penalties from regulatory organizations.

This is exactly why anyone involved with quality assurance should receive pharma training that helps ensure compliance.

The purpose of pharmaceutical quality assurance is to ensure that the medication being manufactured will provide the desired effect to the patient. Quality assurance also guarantees that there are no contaminants present and that the medications will meet quality requirements and all relevant regulations.

Human Anatomy & Physiology

Overview

Anatomy and physiology is the study of the body’s systems and structures and how they interact. Anatomy focuses on the physical arrangement of parts in the body, while physiology studies the inner functioning of cells, tissues, and organs. This section will review the body’s major systems: the musculoskeletal system, the circulatory system, the nervous system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, and the integumentary system.
